This work was made as a side project to ‘kagami / real-time face generator.’ It can also be seen as a continuation of the real-time face tracking/ projection mapping project ‘Connected Colors,’ which used the colors of the natural world as its theme.
As with ‘kagami’, the theme for this work is the beauty of nature. The Japanese word ‘kachofugetsu’ is a compound derived from flower (ka), bird (cho), wind (fu), and moon (getsu), and is intended to evoke the beauty, diversity and harmony of Japan’s natural treasures. Humans once lived as a part of nature, leading spiritual lives in the midst of its bracing aesthetic. Through the medium of electric make-up art, this work encapsulates the idea that this natural beauty contains a set of aesthetic values and a sense of identity of which Japan ought to be proud. In addition to existing technologies, this work introduces a newly designed 4K/240P projector in order to further improve the delicate feel of the skin and make-up and the sense of dynamic motion.

本作は「kagami / Real-Time Face Generator」のスピンオフ作品として制作。自然界の色をテーマにした前作「Connected Colors」の続編です。「kagami」同様、テーマは「花鳥風月」。花、鳥、風、月を表す「花鳥風月」は、日本の自然の美しさを象徴する言葉であり、同時に自然の有する多様性や調和を示唆しています。かつて人々はその一員として、凛とした美しさ、霊的な生命の流れの中に身を置き、寄り添うように生きてきました。日本が誇るべき美しい価値観、アイデンティティーがあります。そのあり方をエレクトリック・メイクアップアート作品として表現しました。今回は新たに4K/240Pプロジェクターを使用することにより、繊細な肌やメイクアップの質感、躍動感をどこまで表現できるか挑戰しています。「kagami」「花 鳥 風 月」は、浅井宣通(WOW)がクリエイティブ&テクニカル・ディレクターを務め、企画・開発・ディレクションを担当。メイクアップ・アートは、Connected Colorsでもコラボレーションした冨沢ノボル氏。美しいメイクアップ・アートをベースに、自然の生命感、躍動感をWOWがCGアニメーションで表現しました。また、音楽は自然界のノイズだけで音を表現するhatis-noitが担当。草原の風の音、水の音、鳥のさえずり等、hatis-noitの生まれ故郷である北海道の大自然のノイズを、自らの記憶の中から紡ぎ出しました。また、「kagami」では、イッセイミヤケのプリーツプリーツを衣装提供を受け、自然と一体化した世界観を構築しています。
