A virtual reality version of Japan's world famous Ghost in the Shell. This work was born from an encounter between Nobumichi Asai and Production IG President Ishikawa at the Yubari International Film Festival awards ceremony. The film won the BEST OF VR award at the Venice International Film Festival and the SITGES SLATIX COCOON OFFICIAL SELECTION award.

The story takes place in Japan in the year 2029, a time of rapid development in science and technology. In a world where "cybernetic technology" that can directly connect cranial nerves to any information network and "prosthetic technology" that can make androids out of body parts such as artificial arms and legs are widely used, the Japanese government receives a bomb threat. A bomb threat arrives in the Japanese government. The target is an international conference to be held in the Republic of Kuzan, inviting key figures from the Republic of Kuzan. The response is entrusted to the "Public Security Section 9," an independent unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs, also known as the "Ghost in the Shell. Motoko Kusanagi, the de facto leader of Public Security Section 9 and born with a full body prosthesis, leads the members of Section 9 to the hiding place to eliminate the terrorists...

舞台は科学技術が急速な発展を遂げた2029年、日本。脳神経をあらゆる情報ネットワークに直接接続できる“電脳化技術”や、義手・義足のように体の一部をアンドロイド化する“義体化技術”が普及する世界で、日本政府に一通の爆破予告が届く。標的となったのは、クザン共和国の要人を招いて開催される国際会議。その対応は、内務省直属の独立部隊「公安9課」、通称『攻殻機動隊』に一任された。公安9課の実質的リーダーであり、生まれながらにして、全身義体の草薙素子は、9課のメンバーを率いてテロリストを排除すべく、潜伏先へと向かう…。
